weekend recap

Friday night :: reunion with Candice
Lowe's Christmas market :: thank you to the lovely Candice for the recommendation!
Saturday night :: Kids in the Hall, Dinner at the Black Hoof (incredible!)
Sunday morning :: Brunch at Table 17
Sunday afternoon :: #cronenbergevolution - inspiring

I wish I could say I snapped oh-so-many wonderfully, sweet photos while exploring Toronto but baby, it's cold outside, and my favourite lens is a manual. Instead I took the time to (mostly) focus on enjoying what was in front me and make use of my trusty iPhone point and shoot. We had so much fun exploring different neighbourhoods and even made it to Kensington Market although, there is no photographic evidence due to high winds and a low tolerance to the cold. Our pre-Christmas trip was a perfectly smooth getaway - exactly what we needed to kick-start December!

Spoiling for a Living

Jack by BB Dakota leather[ish] [similar] | Club Monaco sweater [similar] | James Perse tee

I have a feeling that we are quickly approaching a harsh cold winter that will soon force my photos indoors or my outfits to include coats... in the meantime though, I took advantage of the warm[ish] weekend to grab a couple shots.

I spent the rest of my weekend relaxing, seeing old friends, running errands, working on projects and baking for my sister's birthday. Its actually really exciting because this is the first time my sister and I are in the same place for her birthday in years! Last night Jack and I took her out for a little birthday dinner. Afterwards we had her over to our apartment, where we had decorated, for carrot cake and presents! There is honestly nothing I love more than spoiling someone on their birthday. Now, to figure out how I can do it professionally...

Music Monday

Last night we went to see Grizzly Bear at L’Olympia. Although I missed out on most of Pop Montreal* there was no way we were going to miss this show – Sunday night or not. If you need a refresher, here is my gush. I could say more or repeat myself, but I’m sleepy and in desperate need of coffee – my lack of vocabulary at this point would not do them justice. I will say, today was worth every minute of last night. Not only were they amazing live, but everything was just. so. dreamy. #inlove

*Gang Gang Dance, Purity Ring & Grimes. The realities of a 9-5 job when you’re not a morning person :( next year I will plan accordingly & take mornings off

Music Monday

Windom Earle - Kitten vs Pegasus

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine was jam-packed. I had my third dress fitting Friday evening in my hometown, drove back to Halifax that night so I could wake up bright and early for MotionBall and then booked it to Evolve that evening so Jack and I could get some footage for our short documentary Even If It Kills. We arrived home Sunday bright and early, with the sunrise so the afternoon was spent by the lake - tough life.

This is the first year I went to Evolve and I gotta say, I loved it. We arrived at 7pm and left at 3:30am so I didn't experience the tenting-side but seeing Woodhands, Windom EarleDan Deacon and our guy, eviCtion, was pretty awesome. Also, it's super easy to stay up for 22 hours straight when you've got a music festival to distract you.

Only bummer of the weekend? I injured myself [small concussion & whiplash ?!] within the first 15 minutes of motionball... further proof that I should not be playing team sports. Looks like I'll be sticking to "safe" hobbies like blogging from now on.

MIA  - Bad Girls

Happy Monday folks! Hope all your weekends were stuffed with fun activities. I spent mine trapped by moving boxes, working on my wedding website AND [now for the fun stuff] doing my engagement photo shoot with my wonderful photographers, Chelle & Cherakee! It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to share our photos.

I'm hoping to get back on track with my posts this week however, please be prepared for that plan to collapse. There are still tons of boxes to unpack plus suitcases to pack since Jack and I will be traveling to Montreal over the weekend - I can't wait! At the very least, I can kick off the week with a new favourite song of mine that is definitely going to keep me dancing through my Monday, enjoy.

East Coast Fashion Bloggers: unleashed!

I apologize for interrupting my regularly scheduled Food Friday post [it seems this has been the week of interruptions..] but I have a very exciting event I wanted to share with you!

For a little over two months now Jess and Erin of Haute Halifax, Kayla of Shorts Presents and I have been working our hardest to plan an event that will bring fashion bloggers from across Canada's East Coast together for a weekend to meet, mingle, chat and learn from each other [I even designed our logo!].

and now it's finally here! All our hard work has finally come to fruition - I am SO excited! We have a bunch of great sponsors and a great bunch of girls on the way. This last week has been a little intense as we have been finalizing all the last minute details [today, I may have even momentarily spaced on that fact that I was even aware of this event... no lie. As I said - it's been a longgg week.] but it has been amazing all the same. SO stay tuned.. because next will I may be interrupting regular posts again to share how it all went down !!

**ECFB attendees: We will be making this graphic available so anyone can use it. Keep an eye out for it on our blog & FB group
