Happy Monday, hope you all had lovely weekends! The weather here was absolutely gorgeous which was a relief because this spring has been rough. It was also amazing since it was my last weekend as a Montreal resident! It is so very bittersweet to pack up and leave this lovely city, especially during the summer and it's endless festivals. Jack and I will be buried in boxes here on out so expect me to be spotty... which is pretty much how we run things around here so, expect more of the same :)

Enough of me, more about the dress! I grabbed this little ditty while Jack and I were adventuring around soho. There are certain stores I am powerless against and Club Monaco is one of them. So, when we stumbled by a very large, femmes-only location with a basement FULL of sale items, I got distracted. Couldn't help it. I'd had my eye on a similar Club Monaco frock last spring and am still lusting after this Marc Jacobs cutie so, when I saw this darling, it nearly jumped off the rack at me. Now, to find the perfect necklace. I've got a couple contenders (1, 2, 3) but have yet to make the call - any thoughts?

This spring rain may be giving the never-ending snowstorms of winter-past a run for their money. My rain gear has been getting a mayjah work out this season. I even had to take on some new friends - a lovely pseudo rain coat for those misty, light rain days & a lovely pair of new Hunters. Sadly, I found my old grey darlings riddled with holes when I took them out earlier this year but scoring these lovelies on sale at the Bay calmed my heartache.

Looking at the weather for this Friday, I'm happy I took the plunge because - you guessed it - looks like rain! Just in time for my super secret, very exciting birthday trip! Jack planned us a weekend getaway to celebrate my big three-OH and I can't wait to see where we're going. It's all been a bit of a mystery and since I lovvvvvve surprises I've been keeping my eyes covered and my ears shut. Rain, shine or, dare I say, snow, I've got a feeling this birthday is going to be a good one. If you're ever so curious, check in on instagram, I may manage a few birthday snaps over the weekend

Grey Days, Big Coffees

There's something about grey days that calls for big coffees... or multiple coffees, or multiple, big coffees. I can't say exactly how much coffee I had this weekend but I most certainly over-did it.

If you follow me on twitter you may have seen my news - Jack & I are on the move again! This time we're headed to Toronto! I recently accepted a new position at my company. Since my new team is in Toronto and the city has a strong Television & Film Industry (Jack's line of work) we realized it's the right place for us right now. We will most definitely be bummed to leave Montreal -it's such a beautiful city- and all our new friends but are also very excited to explore Toronto and start a new adventure!

The big move happens June 1st which means all our weekends are now booked up with apartment hunting (from afar), downsizing, kijiji-ing, packing and saying goodbye to our favourite restaurants....and friends, of course! During this time my current love of simple, relaxed outfits may become a full blown obsession. Now that I think of it, perhaps the grey days aren't to blame for my severe coffee intake this weekend after-all...

Nothing beats the threat of a light misting than a beyond sweet umbrella. Especially when said umbrella is a strapping young duck eagerly waiting to provide shelter. Jack found me this little fella while we were in Boston a couple weekends ago and I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised or happier! Being from the east coast I have extensive experience with endless grey days, mistings, light rain, heavy rain, rain warnings and full on hurricanes and I've gotta tell ya, investing in darling rain gear is the first step to "enjoying" the weather.

Luckily, we didn't deal with much more than a light rain as we explored the various campuses and ate our way through Cambridge. Based on this week's weather forecast I'm guessing you'll be seeing a lot more of Monsieur Duckworth on here (of course I named him! wouldn't you?)

guys, I got confused. I've had this idea in my head all week that it's March. and not only have I been thinking it's March but I've been acting as though it's the kind of March one would have living on the west coast - the warmer coast - not smack in the middle of POLAR VORTEX central.

The cold, hard truth finally hit me this morning like an ice wall on a mission. Clearly, the cold won and my attempts to grab a few outfit shots (it's been oh-so-long) were instantly shut down. On the up side, I'm currently toasty and still have all my fingers. I guess I'll just have to share my indoor outfit once the weather starts to play fair.

I'm a sucker for a  holiday. Whether it be St. Patrick's Day, Halloween or Valentine's day, if there is a theme and theme-coloured treats I swoon. I can't help but buy up the pink and red candy, filling sweet little candy dishes and placing them around my apartment. When it comes to Valentine's Day celebrations however, Jack and I tend to avoid the classic dinner-out the three days before and after the big day. Restaurants are too packed, fixed menus are too rigid and quite frankly, I am anti-reservations. Instead, we usually opt for a nice evening in, filled with movies, take out and a fancy cocktail.. or two. This week so far, we've caught a flick (LEGO movie - amazing - everything IS awesome), gotten takeout and will head to Ottawa this weekend for a couple days. The mini getaway should be nice and I can't wait to choose which restaurant we'll hit up in the next couple weeks - I mean, just because we don't go on Valentine's Day doesn't mean we should skip the opportunity to splurge on a great meal! ...now we just have to decide 1, 2, 3

Last week I attended the Converse Spring 2014 Preview at Fresh Paint! Gallery. As chucks have long been my choice kicks, and go-to summer footwear (1, 2), I was in heaven. The 2014 Collection was split into four rooms at the gallery, each designed with a style in line with the personality of the sneakers on display.

LADIES TOP PICKS

The slim-soled fancy is my classic go-to but the Spring 2014 Collection has so many awesome styles that I couldn't choose just one favourite. From wedges to seasonal colours to edgy studs, my lusting quickly evolved into daydreaming spring outfit and suddenly I knew I was a goner. This season there is at least something for everyone, and more likely a couple for us all. I couldn't really bear to choose a favourite - so I didn't! Enjoy.

guyyyyys, when is winter going to get the hint and hit the road? It's actually become a bit of an issue. I am spending too many hours daydreaming of the thaw - warm sun, the smell of spring and fewer layers. The one saving grace has been this sweater and plaid shirt... that I have been living in. There's something about a big comfy sweater on a cold day that just feels right. I mean, obviously, there is the warmth factor but it's more than that; it's a warm hug protecting you from the awful polar vortex. Honestly, there's this outfit and then versions of the above - that, in a nutshell, is my winter wardrobe. You can tell by my fancy, metallic pants that this is nighttime-grab-dinner-catch-a-movie version of the sweater & plaid combo. Maybe one day I'll show you my Sunday, farmer's market version. I've got this stuff down to a science. I may never have to wear a different top again.

I was trying to decide whether this outfit was an office go-to, weekend stand-by or the perfect attire for grabbing drinks in the winter (no dancing included) when I realized, I've worn this ensemble for all of these situations! Casual Friday at the office with my flat ankle boots; running errands and coffee dates with black riding boots; and out for drinks, on more than one occasion, with my wedges. It may just be me, but this seems to be one flexible outfit! If you run into me before March, let's just agree to pretend it's the first time you've seen me wearing these pieces. k, thanks :)

I was going to call this post "a few of my favourite things" but then I couldn't help letting my mind wander to all of my other favourite things until I had imagined myself into a Joey-esq scenario and I slowly just backed away from the title altogether.

You already know my all-encompassing love for this blazer. And these jeans. These coated lovelies I won from Foreign Affair are by far the most under worn item I own. Every time I do get the chance though - I'm over the moon! I picked up this James Perse top at Boutique Stockmarkt and it's the perfect, subtle piece to tie my blazers to my bottoms. After owning these shoes, my closet will never again lack an ankle-boot wedge. Honestly, these darlings take me straight from fall through to March and the wedge is a joy to walk in. Seriously though, if every outfit I wore included individual pieces I own and love this deeply I would spend my hours pleased as punch... and possibly lost in a daydream, how could I not with days so blessed?
