There's nothing like a solid dress to make a girl feel put together and proper. When I saw this Katrina Tuttle frock at Sweet Pea I knew immediately that I would make it mine. I partook in the traditional woo-ing; buying it flowers, walking it home and sending it verses of poetry but to no avail. Finally, at a loss I flashed my visa and it was mine! Whatever happened to good old fashioned courtship anyway?


*Full Disclosure: My hair was actually curly at the brunch however it was driving me insane, so I took the flat iron to it the minute I got home. That'll teach you, hair.

I always find it difficult when I have two things I want to write about but they only overlap because of timing and therefore I must prioritize. Why oh why did I not just wear this outfit last night!? Alright it's decided - outfit first, birthday second.

There was so much going on over the ECFB weekend that there was surprisingly very little time to actually snap a few photos of what I wore! Luckily, I did manage to grab a couple of my outfit Saturday night [pre-dinner] and my outfit Sunday morning [post farewell brunch]. Although I loved what I wore out to dinner, I did feel a little too styled for the cooler fall and winter seasons. However, when living in Nova Scotia sometimes thems the breaks of April and May. So I committed to the black accents and revelled in the edge it brought. 


Switching gears. I had SUCH an amazing birthday yesterday! Thank you for all your kind and thoughtful words - they brought sunshine into the otherwise cloudy day [literally not figuratively, it poured all day]. 

So far my birthday week is off to a fantastic start! There was dinner and a movie [The Five Year Engagement] with my parents last Saturday. A sushi lunch with my boss Tuesday and the Avengers [i.e. handsome Robert Downey Jr.] Tuesday night. My actual birthday - Two if by Sea croissants, family & friends drop-in, phone calls, Chabaa Thai for lunch and then gifts and dinner with my guy at Chives Bistro [amazing!!] - all organized by my amazing fiancé, Jack. Today, my birthday week continues with lunch out [more a symptom of an empty fridge than birthday but who cares] and the showing of This American Life live - I am completely nerding out.

ECFB Unleashed!

As you may remember, the last weekend in April marked the inaugural East Coast Fashion Bloggers: Unleashed! conference. I meant to do up this post over the past week however, since I forgot to bring my camera for the majority of the weekend I had to wait for all my lovely co-bloggers to share those. BIG thank you to Erin & Fashion East as they were my main photo sources.

Kayla, Jess, Erin and I had a fantastic time planning it over the last couple months and it was amazing to see it all our hard work [venue, sponsorships, branding, media, etc] come together for the weekend! I had an incredible time meeting and learning from some of my favourite local bloggers from across the East Coast and I honestly cannot wait for the next chance we have to all get together again!

East Coast Fashion Bloggers: unleashed!

I apologize for interrupting my regularly scheduled Food Friday post [it seems this has been the week of interruptions..] but I have a very exciting event I wanted to share with you!

For a little over two months now Jess and Erin of Haute Halifax, Kayla of Shorts Presents and I have been working our hardest to plan an event that will bring fashion bloggers from across Canada's East Coast together for a weekend to meet, mingle, chat and learn from each other [I even designed our logo!].

and now it's finally here! All our hard work has finally come to fruition - I am SO excited! We have a bunch of great sponsors and a great bunch of girls on the way. This last week has been a little intense as we have been finalizing all the last minute details [today, I may have even momentarily spaced on that fact that I was even aware of this event... no lie. As I said - it's been a longgg week.] but it has been amazing all the same. SO stay tuned.. because next will I may be interrupting regular posts again to share how it all went down !!
