California Coast-ing :: Honeymoon Count Down is On!

If you follow me on instagram you may have seen the announcement today - the countdown is officially ON!!! In ONE month, Jack and I will be heading to California for a two week honeymoon!

Confused? Don't be. Jack and I did, in fact, get married last summer. Instead of a honeymoon though, we opted to pack all of our worldly possessions into a u-haul, hook our swift to the back and move ourselves to Montreal. It was super fun. ...actually, it kind of was BUT there was no time, or budget, for a honeymoon after that.

We decided that being able to relax and enjoy ourselves was more important than the traditional, immediate post-wedding honeymoon so we hit pause and we saved. Saving was hard. We were in a new city. Everything cost so much. Moving your car to a new province costs SO MUCH. We needed to find work. We wanted to do all of the things and eat all of the food. We only did some of the things and ate most of the food.

And now, now we're ready. We have lovely friends in San Francisco and Los Angeles. We are hoping to take a day or two and drive along the coast. We are planning, scheming and strategizing but haven't nailed down anything final so suggestions are welcome - especially for sweet little inns, or lovely hotels with breathtaking views midway between the two cities. I can't wait to share more details as they come - this month is sure to better fly by!

  1. WAAAAAAAAAH so fun!!! I know it's your honeymoon, but I'm going to be in SF in late August for a weekend. If we're there at the same time I'd love to try to connect. Otherwise, if you find yourself driving from LA to San Diego (it's only a 2 hour drive) and want to hang out, let me know!

I'm sure you'll be busy bees, but if you do have free time when you're in So Cal, give me a call - I'd love to meet up for lunch or coffee or something! :)

  3. I'm in Southern California, too! Riverside, specifically :) (Dani, are you willing to share?)

You HAVE to eat at an In N Out. Rule 1. HAVE. TO.

  4. We put off our honeymoon for a month (not a year, like you) but I've been ITCHING to go so I can only imagine how you feel. SoCal is awesome! I love everything about it and totally agree with Heather when she says you need to have In N Out. That's a go-to while in the area. Also, try Pinkberry - yumm!! It's awesome fro-yo and I try to seek it out when I'm in SoCal too since we only have 2 locations in the Chicago area! Have fun!
