Wedding Wednesday. Getting Ready :: Part I - Hair & Makeup

An important tradition I required Jack and I to keep was sleeping in separate houses on the eve of our wedding. Since hair appointments were scheduled first thing in Halifax, my sisters spent the night at our house in the city while jack took advantage of our soon-to-be honeymoon suite and my "staging area" for the next day in Wolfville.

The decision as to where to get my hair and makeup done was never a hard one. Spirit Spa is bar-none my favourite spa in halifax. The aesthetic is minimalistic and gorgeous, the service is fantastic and friendly and the estechians are incredible. After years of awesome brow shapings, massages and scrubs there was no question who I would rely on for my wedding day.

My stylist, Laura, did a gorgeous job with my hair. Especially considering we scrapped what we did during my trial and went a completely different route. To be honest, I wasn't really entirely sure what my hair looked like until I got the photos! If you had told me before my wedding that I wouldn't pay attention to the details I would have said you didn't know me. But, on the day of my wedding, none of it mattered. I'm just lucky to have had such a talented stylist to make me look so good anyway.

Alison, my make up artist (and long time brow stylist), did an absolutely stunning job. She balanced a natural, clean look with highlighting my features leaving my skin just glowing. Once again, we had scrapped everything we did in the trial and took a risk the day of which just says so much to the talent of this girl.

I was lucky enough to have my wonderful sisters [Kirima & Magdalaina], Jack's sister [Ruby] and my gorgeous friend, Jackie, keep me company during my appointments. My sisters and Ruby even got their hair done too. The morning flew by, was relaxing and I honestly could not imagine a better way to have spent the morning of my big day.
